Unilever Ghana sells Benso Oil Palm Plantation June 3, 2010

Unilever Ghana, one of the country’s leading consumer items producer has sold its oil palm plantation to Wilmar Africa.

According to a press release published in the Daily Graphic Monday May 31, 2010, the decision to dispose of the plantation was taken at a General Meeting of the company on February 2, 2010.

Unilever decided to undertake disposals, strategic partnerships and or alliances in relation to its interests in oil palm plantation, oil processing activities and its Frytol Brand. It did so, to be able to concentrate on strengthening its consumer goods business, the release said.

Unilever therefore, has entered into an agreement to sell and transfer certain asserts comprising its oil processing activities, Frytol Brand and the company’s shares in the Benso Oil Palm Plantation to Wilmar Africa Limited, the release added.
